DSA Training with Down Syndrome Liverpool present a training day for children and young people who have Down’s syndrome.

The training day will help school staff and parent carers to support the children and young people they educate and care for. Topics include:

  • Understanding learning strengths and individual needs
  • Supporting social development
  • How to change behaviour
  • Supporting positive behaviour
  • Self help skills and independence

Early years/Primary workshop
This workshop will outline how to support social development and positive behaviour from early childhood to the end of primary school. Participants will receive practical advice on how to support friendships, play and social skills and how to support positive behaviour using learning strengths. Participants will be invited to share examples of successful support and their concerns.

Secondary workshop
This workshop will outline how to support social development and positive behaviour through teenage years. Participants will receive advice on how to support friendships and social skills and how to support positive behaviour using learning strengths. Participants will be invited to contribute with examples of good practice, successful outcomes and to share any concerns they have currently.
