- Co-opted Trustee/ Events Co-ordinator
My name is Cathy Daulby, I am married to Colin and we do not have any children.
How then am I involved with DSL, I hear you ask. – Well, I have a beautiful Niece, called Molly Wilde.
In 2011, I was asked by my Sister-in-Law, Anne Wilde, to help DSL organise a charity ball. An event of this size was something that had never been attempted before and was a tad daunting. In my work-life, I have managed large teams and organised a number of events, so I was able to contribute to the planning and the launch of our 1st Ball in 2012.
Having resigned as a Trustee from another charity I had been involved with for several years; the plan was to have a bit more time to myself! Anyone who has worked as a Trustee will know how time consuming it can be. My intention was to only assist DSL with this one event ….. 6 years and 3 Balls later, I am still here and honoured to be a Co-opted Trustee.
I have learnt so much from the families, carers and the children themselves about what it is like to live with DS; with the emphasis being on what the children can do rather than what can’t be done.
Molly has achieved so much already, she has performed at a Royal Variety Performance to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. She has represented Great Britain in Lucerne, Switzerland as a gymnast and has done so much more to make all her family so very proud.
I am learning all the time and committed to raising awareness to help raise those much-needed funds to provide the many social events and training packages DSL deliver.
